Cathedral Men’s ChoirIn 1946, at the initiative of Michał Woźny, the former organist at St Elizabeth’s Church in Lvov (1920-1945) and organist at Wawel Cathedral during the years 1946-1986, a men’s choir was established at the cathedral. Its conductos were Michał Woźny (1946-1986), Roman Mackiewicz (1986-1999), and Rev. Robert Tyrała (1997-2009). Since 2009, the conductor of the choir has been Andrzej Korzeniowski. Witold Zalewski has been the accompanist and the organist with the choir since 1995. The choir sings a wide repertoire of church music compositions. In 1996 the Men’s Choir of Wawel Cathedral participated in the 2nd Cathedral Choir Festival in Amiens, France. The choir has twice been on pilgrimages to the Vatican, in 1988 and 2001, where it was hosted by the Holy Father, John Paul II, at private audiences. The choir’s most recent performances included one at the Latin Cathedral in Lvov in October 2008.
